In Bihar-Jharkhand, this greens is mixed with peas and prepared on the next day of fasts like Teej and Jitiya.

Today we tell you how to make Poi Saag by adding it to gram dal. Eating it will not only give taste, as well as the nutrients of greens and pulses will also fill the body with energy. If you have not tasted this dish yet, then today we tell you the recipe of this wonderful dish prepared from Poi Saag and Chana Dal.
Poi Saag – kg
Chana dal – 2 cups
Garlic – 8 cloves
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Green chili – 2
Tomato – 2
Onion – 2 finely chopped
Panchphoran – tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Bay leaves – 1
Asafoetida – tsp
Turmeric – 1 tsp
Salt – as per taste

How to make Poi Saag and Chana Dal
Wash the Poi Saag and clean its soil thoroughly. Finely chop these leaves, so that it dissolves well in lentils and children do not constrict their nose in eating it. Soak gram dal in water for 2 hours. Now put the dal in the cooker and apply 4 whistles. Heat ghee in a pan, add panchphoron and bay leaves and after a minute add chopped onions and fry it on low flame.

Grind tomatoes, green chilies, ginger and garlic together in a mixer. When the onion is fried, then add coriander, red chili, turmeric powder, tomato paste and salt and fry it well. Now add chopped greens and cook covered for 8-10 minutes. Finally, add boiled lentils and asafoetida and cook till the lentils come to a boil and then turn off the gas. Serve poi saag and gram dal hot with rice or ghee-laden roti.
